Regarding Travis Barker and Revolvr’s performances at Wintersalt Music & Arts Festival

The decision to push Revolvr’s set time at Wintersalt (12/28) to a later time was NOT a decision or request from anyone within Travis Barker’s camp or Travis Barker.

Wintersalt was a first of its kind experience inside the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center (SF), and the proximity of the stages caused a situation where there could potentially be a bleed over of sound from stage to stage, a rather common issue at festivals with a smaller footprint. Upon our finding out that Travis (one of the headliners on the main stage) would have a drum solo introduction in his set with Mixmaster Mike (of the Beastie Boys), that temporarily required there be no competing sounds, the heads of the festival production team and the event promoter (Eye Heart SF), made the decision to push Revolvr’s set time back on the front stage (“Owls Nest”) by a few minutes. This would alleviate any brief sound issues, and we didn’t feel the small changes to the schedule made a significant impact on the overall experience.

Unfortunately, it appears that Revolvr’s team was unaware of the push in the scheduling and for that miscommunication we (the producer) bear the brunt share of the blame.

“I was managing the stage at the time, I ended Panic City’s set on schedule at 11:15pm. Revolvr was originally scheduled for 11:20pm but was pushed to 11:30pm. As I was escorting Panic and his team off stage, Revolvr began playing without a cue from me or any of my team at approximately 11:17pm. This unfortunately put me in a tight spot because I had to kill the music.” — Zach Lonas, head production manager

As fans of Revolvr’s music this was not something we wanted to do and we apologize for the mishap.

As fans of Travis Barker (and Mixmaster Mike), we apologize if they were unfairly and unknowingly dragged into a negative situation that is unwarranted when considering their lifelong contribution to the music scene. In fact, Travis’ epic Live sets with the late DJ AM, helped push the envelop in terms of performance art and originality, merging rock, hip-hop, electronic dance sounds, and beyond, before most anyone else was doing it.

Overall, it is important to note that neither Travis Barker nor Revolvr were ever competing for a crowd. With the front stage “Owls Nest” (where Revolvr was playing) being a much smaller, more intimate experience than the main stage (where Travis and Mike were), the sheer difference in size makes this scenario impossible. If it was reported differently, the source was simply misinformed. Indeed the main stage consistently had a big crowd in front of that stage during the entire night from start to finish for all the acts from Paper Diamond to Dillon Francis, to Travis & Mike, to Zedd.

Finally, as an independent, non-corporate, non-deep pockets, DIY events company, we’d like to simply say that we are doing our best to put together great events in San Francisco that offer a diverse variety of good people and good music. We pride ourselves in working with some of the best in the business when it comes to Sound, Lights, and Production, and we always try to go the extra mile for the artist, the vendor, and the attendee. There are always some growing pains when embarking on exciting new projects, like Wintersalt, but we promise to continue to do our best and raise the bar higher each time out.

Charity Strike is a California-based DJ and record production duo from Los Angeles. Mike Lisanti, 24, and Philip Scully, 21, met while pursuing solo careers in Santa Barbara and linked up to produce their own original tracks and remixes in the spring of 2012. Since then, the dynamic duo won the grand prize in Beatport Play’s remix contest for Sander Van Doorn’s ‘Chasin’’ and had an official remix released on Doorn Records (Spinnin). The track reached #14 on the Beatport Top 100 chart in Dubstep shortly after its debut.

Electronic fans and critics have acknowledged Charity Strike for the team’s nonconforming style, in and out of the studio. The duo’s genre of music has ranged from hard-hitting and eclectic dubstep, heard in ‘Chasin’’, to a more big room progressive and electronic house style, heard in their other releases and remixes.

Supporters characterize Charity Strike’s approach to music as “freestyle” and are avid devotees, following and liking Charity Strike’s every move on Facebook, Twitter, and Soundcloud. Charity Strike has displayed their broad creativity and is currently focusing on future productions, primarily on fusing the progressive and electronic house genre with elements of Dubstep and other forms of popular bass music.

The duo has recently signed a single track to Steve Aoki’s imprint, Dim Mak Records, and is currently filling up their release schedule for the entire 2013 year.

Brooklyn MC Theophilus London is a part of that rare breed of people born to be an entertainer – a performer & fashionista, with swag written from head to toe and a name you won’t forget.

Originally from Trinidad in the southern most point of the Caribbean, London’s international roots began with tours the Caribbean and Americas, drawing his inspiration from OG pop hipsters like Prince and Michael Jackson as well as the new wave of Elvis Costello and The Smiths.
