Statement from Eye Heart SF, presenter of Wintersalt Music & Arts Festival Regarding Travis Barker and Revolvr’s performances at Wintersalt Music & Arts Festival The decision to push Revolvr’s set time at Wintersalt (12/28) to a later time was NOT a decision or request from anyone within Travis Barker’s camp or Travis Barker. Wintersalt was a first of its kind experience inside the Festival Pavilion at Fort Mason Center (SF), and the proximity of the stages caused a situation where there could potentially be a bleed over of sound from stage to stage, a rather common issue at festivals with a smaller footprint. Upon our finding out that Travis (one of the headliners on the main stage) would have a drum solo introduction in his set with Mixmaster Mike (of the Beastie Boys), that temporarily required there be no competing sounds, the heads of the festival production team and the event promoter (Eye Heart SF), made the decision to push Revolvr’s set time back on the front stage (“Owls Nest”) by a few minutes. This would alleviate any brief sound issues, and we didn’t feel the small changes to the schedule made a significant impact on the overall experience. Unfortunately, it appears that Revolvr’s team was unaware of the push in the scheduling and for that miscommunication we (the producer) bear the brunt share of the blame. “I was managing the stage at the time, I ended Panic City’s set on schedule at 11:15pm. Revolvr was originally scheduled for 11:20pm but was pushed to 11:30pm. As I was escorting Panic and his team off stage, Revolvr began playing without a cue from me or any of my team at approximately 11:17pm. This unfortunately put me in a tight spot because I had to kill the music.” — Zach Lonas, head production manager As fans of Revolvr’s music this was not something we wanted to do and we apologize for the mishap. As fans of Travis Barker (and Mixmaster Mike), we apologize if they were unfairly and unknowingly dragged into a negative situation that is unwarranted when considering their lifelong contribution to the music scene. In fact, Travis’ epic Live sets with the late DJ AM, helped push the envelop in terms of performance art and originality, merging rock, hip-hop, electronic dance sounds, and beyond, before most anyone else was doing it. Overall, it is important to note that neither Travis Barker nor Revolvr were ever competing for a crowd. With the front stage “Owls Nest” (where Revolvr was playing) being a much smaller, more intimate experience than the main stage (where Travis and Mike were), the sheer difference in size makes this scenario impossible. If it was reported differently, the source was simply misinformed. Indeed the main stage consistently had a big crowd in front of that stage during the entire night from start to finish for all the acts from Paper Diamond to Dillon Francis, to Travis & Mike, to Zedd. Finally, as an independent, non-corporate, non-deep pockets, DIY events company, we’d like to simply say that we are doing our best to put together great events in San Francisco that offer a diverse variety of good people and good music. We pride ourselves in working with some of the best in the business when it comes to Sound, Lights, and Production, and we always try to go the extra mile for the artist, the vendor, and the attendee. There are always some growing pains when embarking on exciting new projects, like Wintersalt, but we promise to continue to do our best and raise the bar higher each time out. Sincerely, Eye Heart SF presenter of Wintersalt Music & Arts Festival

Charity Strike is a California-based DJ and record production duo from Los Angeles. Mike Lisanti, 24, and Philip Scully, 21, met while pursuing solo careers in Santa Barbara and linked up to produce their own original tracks and remixes in the spring of 2012. Since then, the dynamic duo won the grand prize in Beatport Play’s remix contest for Sander Van Doorn’s ‘Chasin’’ and had an official remix released on Doorn Records (Spinnin). The track reached #14 on the Beatport Top 100 chart in Dubstep shortly after its debut. Electronic fans and critics have acknowledged Charity Strike for the team’s nonconforming style, in and out of the studio. The duo’s genre of music has ranged from hard-hitting and eclectic dubstep, heard in ‘Chasin’’, to a more big room progressive and electronic house style, heard in their other releases and remixes. Supporters characterize Charity Strike’s approach to music as “freestyle” and are avid devotees, following and liking Charity Strike’s every move on Facebook, Twitter, and Soundcloud. Charity Strike has displayed their broad creativity and is currently focusing on future productions, primarily on fusing the progressive and electronic house genre with elements of Dubstep and other forms of popular bass music. The duo has recently signed a single track to Steve Aoki’s imprint, Dim Mak Records, and is currently filling up their release schedule for the entire 2013 year. Originally from Trinidad in the southern most point of the Caribbean, London’s international roots began with tours the Caribbean and Americas, drawing his inspiration from OG pop hipsters like Prince and Michael Jackson as well as the new wave of Elvis Costello and The Smiths. Theo burst onto the scene in ‘08 with a series of mixtapes beginning with his 2008 “I’m Not Like the Rest of Them” “JAM” release, followed shortly by the heavily Smiths influenced tape “This Charming Mixtape” in ’09 – a clear demonstration of TL’s cross-over potential and, well, charm. The result has been described as a “Bloc Party meets Kid Cudi light electronica remixtape,” with hits like,“CPU Love” – which boasted London’s lyrical swag on Kraftwerk’s “Computer Love” synths while “HumDrum Town” took the Smiths – “William, It Was Really Nothing” into an indie hiphop-soul anthem. With the success of Charming, growing fan base and signing to Warner Music Group, TL continued to polish his electronica-indierock –Brooklyn-soul-hop party crossover sound with his 2011 debut full length album “Timez Are Weird These Days”. Hits like “All Around The World” and “Last Name London” shot through the blogosphere like wild fire, praised by Rolling Stone and Spin and catapulting the young artist into a light he was made for: Over the past few years his fans have been privileged enough to see TL’s musical and celebrity hipster style grow and mature, staying true to his self-proclaimed freshness that “all starts with what’s comfortable” – as in that comfortable feeling when being featured in GQ, Esquire, Vogue, NY Times, Complex, Fader and NME. In April 2012, Theophilus London let the sun set on Timez into the powerful EDM-infused remix album Timez Are Weird These Nights featuring flips from heavyweight dubstep producer Skream, Italian jumpstep duo Crookers remix of “Stop It” and nudisco champion Fred Falke flip on “Love is Real.” This past summer Theo also hit a note at the ever growing Mad Decent Block Party, alongside Wintersalt performers Dillon Francis and Paper Diamond. On a scale from shy and frugal to loud and lavish, the Brooklyn-rapper turned international crossover debonair has a big spending, soundsystem-thumping live performance ready to bring to us at Wintersalt on Saturday Dec. 29th.
TheSalt is our exclusive weekly series dedicated to making the most of your NYE weekend and experiencing the very best of what San Francisco has to offer! Our totally customizable guides will spotlight the newest of the new & worthy + will feature our very own hand-picked selection of local hangs + shops + bars + eateries we are proud to say represent our amazing city. Places we love, that we know you will fall in love with, too. —- The Wintersalt experience is more than just about the top-tier, forward-thinking artists & their booty-movin’ music you’ll hear at each night at the festival: The totality of this unique experience includes the incredible locale: and exploring the amazing nooks & crannies of the city that is host to the adventure: San Francisco. For San Francisco – a city globally-renowned for its next level gastro-dexterity and having more restaurants per capita than any other city in the WORLD – you’d think its late-night dining scene/2am post-party game would be more up to my drunken snuff. However, there are a few bright and shiny star restaurants in this city, that get it. So, I’ve taken liberty of soberly curating a list of the best post-club/late night noms, to help point you in the right direction each night after Wintersalt Music Festival, so you can get the proper, & of course, the tasty refueling you and your poor, tired & TWERKED-out body rightfully deserve! BONUS: Even after this NYE weekend, there’s no reason not to keep this after hours gastro-guide handy; as its good for all the post-shift industry peeps, all the night owls with refined palettes, and for those fellow booze bandits craving all things warm, cheesy, and ruthlessly spicy on any future post-fun prowls. ***Close to Fort Mason: the venue for Wintersalt*** Marina/Cow Hollow 1.
The Wintersalt experience is more than just about the top-tier, forward-thinking artists & their booty-movin’ music you’ll hear at each night at the festival: The totality of this unique experience includes the incredible locale: and exploring the amazing nooks & crannies of the city that is host to the adventure: San Francisco.

For San Francisco – a city globally-renowned for its next level gastro-dexterity and having more restaurants per capita than any other city in the WORLD – you’d think its late-night dining scene/2am post-party game would be more up to <del>my drunken</del> snuff.

This place definitely gets it. Original creations like the Latin Lover: topped with Linguiça, refried bean sauce, cherry tomatoes, jalapeños, cheddar cheese & cilantro; or their Aphrodite: which combos a vegetarian-friendly assortment of black oilves, artichoke hearts, feta & oregano; or their First Kiss: which combines tender roasted shrimp & their special roasted garlic; clearly the brains behind this operation have had a few big nights out of their own, or they’re just geniuses. Either way, they’ve definitely nailed the fine art of drunk munchies. Two thumbs WAY UP.
